“Fresh, charming and absolutely delightful.  I didn’t want the story to end.”

Welcome to my website, my new women’s fiction novel, Whisper Beach, and my new name. Actually the name is mine, though most of you might know me as mystery writer, Shelley Freydont.

To the locals Whisper Beach got its name from the sound of the waves shush-shushing against the pilons of the pier. Those with a more imaginative nature, usually after several pints down at Mike’s Pub, insist that one of Jean Lafitte’s mistresses brought her baby there every day waiting for a glimpse of his ship and shushing her baby’s cries with a promise of his return.

But any teenager, wife, husband, or public figure who’d ever felt the lash of town gossip knew that the whispers were only the beginning and didn’t stop until they turned into a roar.

Fifteen years ago, seventeen-year-old Vanessa Moran fell in love and lost her virginity but not to the same boy. Pregnant, desperate, and humiliated, she fled friends and family and Whisper Beach, New Jersey, never breathing a word about her secret to anyone. She hasn’t been back since. Now a professional Manhattan organizer, she returns to the funeral of her best friend’s husband. She intends on just paying her respects and leaving—though she can’t deny she also wants the town to see how far she’s come as a successful business woman. But her plans to make this a short visit fall by the wayside when her girlfriends have other ideas.

For Van and her friends, this summer will test the meaning of trust—and how far love can bend before it breaks.
